SC, One idea is to install a shutoff valve further up in the building, which will isolate the pipe going to the outside wall. I remember a 2nd floor condo near here had a similar pipe burst (the owner was away on vacation) and that's what they recommended. If the isolated pipe freezes it will just leak the small amount of water in it and no more. Hopefully the coldest weather is over for this season.

Btw, I see Threshold Pharma (now MTEM) had a nice bounce since the summer. REED remains a dog, but TEVA is recovering pretty well, now poised just under the 200 MA.

scstocks: Sorry to hear about your house catastrophe. Nothing worse than broken pipes. If we retire to the hills of western North Carolina as we are currently thinking about, I'll have to be careful with those deep freezes.
