They lost ~$20M in 2016. They're on pace to lose ~$20M in 2017. After that "only" $12.5M raise, they had about ~$20M. To not expect dilution, even from a serial diluter, for an extended period of time wasn't unreasonable or a sign of "lack" of DD. And don't even get me started on those fkn warrants.
