A new book from longtime Washington media reporter Howard Kurtz says that White House aides privately describe surprise actions by President Trump that catch his staff off-guard as "Defiance Disorder."

The term refers to Trump's habit of doing whatever his advisers are most strongly urging him not to do — and then leaving them to deal with the clean-up, according to excerpts of the Kurtz book reported by The Washington Post.

As an example, the book highlights Trump's decision to announce on Twitter that he was barring transgender people from serving in the military. When then-chief of staff Reince Priebus heard the news, just as he was about to attend a meeting where four options on the decision were to be considered, he said, "Oh my God he just tweeted this," according to the Kurtz book.

Kurtz's book, titled “Media Madness: Donald Trump, The Press, And The War Over The Truth,” will be released on Jan. 29.

It comes on the heels of Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” which roiled Washington, D.C., with its own shocking details about the administration.

Another anecdote in Kurtz's book that is a hallmark of Trump's "Defiance Disorder" came when White House advisers were surprised by Trump's tweet charging the Obama administration with wiretapping Trump Tower.

“Priebus knew the staff would have to fall into line to prove the tweet correct, the opposite of the usual process of vetting proposed pronouncements,” Kurtz wrote in the book.

“Once the president had committed to 140 characters, he was not going to back off.”

Kurtz hosts Fox News’s “Media Buzz” and previously wrote for The Washington Post.

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)[1] is defined by the DSM-5 as "a pattern of angry/irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior, or vindictiveness".[2] Unlike children with conduct disorder (CD), children with oppositional defiant disorder are not aggressive towards people or animals, do not destroy property, and do not show a pattern of theft or deceit.[3] A diagnosis of ODD is also no longer applicable if the individual is diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder (RAD).

(Reuters) - The real estate company of Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law, will no longer seek $150 million from wealthy Chinese investors for a New Jersey building project, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Kushner Cos has stopped trying to raise money from Chinese investors to pay for the two-tower luxury apartment complex after criticism that it was trying to benefit from its White House ties, the AP said, citing a source. bit.ly/2n86G0E

The company and its partner KABR Group were trying to raise money under the EB-5 visa programme that grants visas to wealthy foreigners investing in the United States, according to the AP. Most EB-5 holders are wealthy Chinese individuals.

“Kushner Companies considers all reasonable and appropriate financing options on a project by project basis,” spokeswoman Chris Taylor told Reuters via email, without elaborating.

KABR did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Kushners’ use of EB-5 visas to raise cash to finance developments gained attention in May last year, when Jared Kushner’s sister, Nicole Kushner, spoke at an event in Shanghai to attract Chinese investment into the building complex. The company later apologised for mentioning Jared Kushner’s name while wooing investors.

Kushner Cos is being investigated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for its use of the EB-5 programme, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month.

Jared Kushner resigned from his role leading Kushner Cos when he joined the White House early last year but still owns a stake in parts of the business, according to the Journal.
