$KMI Canada's National Energy Board launches a new process for resolving permit disputes related to Kinder Morgan’s (KMI) Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project.
The NEB says the new process, which was requested by KMI, will consider future disputes between the company and provincial and municipal authorities, and provide a response within 3-5 weeks, providing a “measure of certainty” for all parties.
The change comes a day after Kinder Morgan Canada said the start-up of the Trans Mountain expansion would be delayed until December 2020 due to permitting delays.
Separately, the NEB says it will hold hearings in Burnaby, B.C., starting next week to discuss the final route of the expansion; last year, the city refused to issue key construction permits, forcing KMI to appeal to the NEB for permission to proceed with its work.
