There's also no ability to short-sell a cryptocurrency. The path to prosperity is very narrow when it comes to virtual currencies. If they go up, everyone makes money. If they go down, no one makes money. That logic leads to one natural conclusion: everyone buys.

Yes and no. This statement likely didn't consider Futures contracts. But, let's put that aside. First an operational definition of Short: We all know about borrowing shares to Sell at a higher price and Buy at a lower price to Cover. Yet, I suggest that a Short position is one wherein you make money from the price going down on a purchase. So, it may be possible to virtually Short. If I bought at a lower price and bought enough, then at any price from above my buy-in to my buy-in is the range that I can sell to and still make a profit. This is especially true if the sizes are smaller than the total volume I own (read: control). It's kinda like a Wash Sale but you still make money. It's just less as the price goes back down to your buy-in price. With the extra cash, you can buy again at or below your initial buy-in price and get more shares on the way back up. It's kinda like the free shares you get trading UNGS when you Flip. And, there may be other ways to Short too.
