My opinion is KIM needs to sell this years model

Apparently no one wants to buy "this years model." Moving into what you could call a customization phase of the business is exciting for the future. It also leaves us at least a year away from selling any silk. Probably more. We also have to PROVE we can customize all these different silks.

Exactly my thoughts. Monster silk should have been produced and sold to anyone who wanted to market a product that didn’t need to meet certain specs. Only spec the average person cares about is that it’s stronger than regular silk and you can market it as spider silk.

Clothing can go to market right now and people would line up to buy workout clothes with spider silk.

In fact, that was Kim’s stated intent years ago. He said they’d go for technical textiles eventually but first they’d get the low hanging apples with the more “mundane” products.

So why didn’t he? He couldn’t produce consistent batches AND couldn’t produce enough of it to satisfy any demand whatsoever.

So what’s stopping him now? Kim stated that the quality control issues have been fixed. The production he has in the USA has allegedly satisfied the army’s needs at the present.

IMO, the medical uses can wait. Get with UA and make a prototype workout shirt. Say it’s coming to a sporting good store near you .... that may be enough to light a fire under any silk producing country’s rear so that SOMEONE who knows how to make silk will get moving!!

they will ask for a customized fiber...why not?..who wouldn’t?"

There is no way to know if mojo knows what he is talking about here. You don't ask for something better if what you have in hand works and gets you to market sooner. The market will drive things differently than the motivations of the Army. If DS worked for the medical entity, then they will run with it yesterday.

My opinion is KIM needs to sell this years model and offer next years model later.

Here here.

What have we ever produced and sold?

Fibers and R&D. As of right now the fibers produced are funding research and development. To state the obvious, we need fibers in products. I think it is coming and I think we all would like to see it be Dragon Silk.

"this is a product we have for sale. Would you like to purchase it ?"

for cars, as a filler for something, carpets, maybe rope, sure..but apparel, medical suppliers, bullet proof vests?..the answer will be no..they'll want something custom..again..why wouldn't they?..kim said he could do it..so that's what they gonna want..

"Instead they are saying can you make it even better?"

they would be asking for something that better suits their needs..i don't know why anyone is shocked about that...and I really don't why its a problem for anyone..

"My opinion is KIM needs to sell this years model and offer next years model later."

well if we were in the car business, that would be good advice..we are in the cutting edge fiber business..besides, I believe "this years model" is about 3 yrs old now..

"In short we need to make and sell something."

yes..but just because kim is taking forever to get anything done doesn't mean that doing something sloppy and quick is ok..if you say you can customize and a customer asks for specific qualities, and you tell him "nope..this is what we got..take it or leave it"..im guessing that's what would be considered bad business..

I mean what are you going to tell the customer..yes we can customize..we are doing it for the army..we just aren't going to do it for you..its going to take too long..we're in a hurry..sorry..have a nice day..

"How can we claim to be the leader when in fact we don't seem to be keeping up with the competition?"

kblb shouldn't have ever claimed to be the leader..they didn't earn that right..it was never true..and it still isn't..they are way ahead in bs tho..
