I went to the Hagan grocery store today. It has a local garden store attached. Although there are no veggie starts yet- too early and too cold- they did have lots of primroses (blooming) hyacinths and daffs in containers- not blooming but ready for planting. I so wanted to get some, but it was and is pouting rain and likely will be for the next couple days. Considering I have to do some raking before I can plant, I'll have to wait a few days.
Carrots can over winter. What happens is the plants produce a sugar that keeps the water in the cells from freezing much like anti freeze which is a complex sugar.
