Hmm... if most are long, we won't be having a liquid market to accomodate all needs of participants. What goes up must come down. It's more the case when price rises fast... Profit taking is what keeps the markets function... to serve us all with different and unique circumstances, needs, skills and smarts. Longs with no goal in mind expect retirement riches... and few may even achieve it... who knows. I haven't met them yet in real life... lol.
