The report is to be issued in about 55 days. I would be surprised if the DoD even responds to a FOIA request in that time. When I say "responds" I mean they acknowledge the request, NOT actually provide any info. Eventually they are going to say it might be classified but we are still determining that.

LM & Revello, I did submit scandium as a resource to look into on Oct. 5th. That was the "open to the public resource suggestion" cutoff day for this year I believe. If I remember correctly, you would not get an individual reply from Eric Longnecker. He is the director & acting director of 2 divisions

Here is what I asked him:

Hello Eric,

There seems to be a lot of talk about the benefits of alloying scandium with aluminum making it lighter, stronger, & weldable. Do you foresee in the future that scandium will also become stockpiled for defense purposes?

I was amazed at how many of our minerals are bought from other countries! I would prefer to eliminate some of those "points of failures" in our supply chain, and resource any available from right here in the U.S.A.

The senate has just passed HR2810. This military build up will require a large amount of metal of different types. I don't feel that we should leave ourselves in a position of "getting caught with your pants down" should other countries decided to cut us off.

Here is the link to his website, I haven't looked for any new news yet.
