#1574 RE: north40000 #1570

Good point as far as the drug having a shelf life from day synthesis is complete and the product is in bulk packaging. My hunch is that shelf life would differ significantly (be longer) than the shelf life of the product once it has been loaded into the Symjepti apparatus. It makes sense to me that a portable apparatus, designed for on-the-fly field use where it will be kept in purses, cars, backpacks, etc., would have a more restrictive shelf life of 180 days.

That being said, in the example of loading Symjepti apparati with Narcan (Naloxone), tragically, I would not worry one bit about those expiring considering the fact that some law enforcement agencies are crying about the amount of money they are bleeding out to save the same junkie over and over and over again. I can't remember the exact precinct but recently an Ohio sheriff made a controversial decision to restrict the number of doses he would use on a given user and actually let them die due to budget constraints.

Here is some interesting background info on Narcan administration and prices.

Take note of the price of the auto-injector made by Evzio. I believe Symjepti will be a direct and much less expensive competitor to this product as auto injectors are probably the preferred format for deployment with law enforcement and firefighters as auto injectors make it so one doesn't need to mess around with drawing up the correct amount of the drug before administration.
