The shovels are made of cheap plastic now, but are very lightweight. Much easier on this girl's arms and back. It's the edge that gets torn up even with the metal reinforcement. I use it as a plow as much as possible. That way my legs do most of the work.
The Home Depot guy showed me a heavy duty shovel. It was shaped like a coal shovel and it was solid. The problem was that it was much heavier than the one I bought. The extra weight wouldn't make a difference to a man. You guys are blessed with exquisite upper body strength. The weight would have been a killer for me.
