Bitcoin is easily misunderstood. It is a currency much like the dollar. It isn't controlled by any one man or group. You can swing by a bit coin ATM and trade dollars to it or pull dollars from it. The fact that it is not physical has no bearing. It cannot be forged, fabricated, traced or stolen if the user protects it and conducts transactions with it as intended. The Bitcoin hash is not something that can be changed without consensus.
The "community" was so.pissed in the early days of etherium a while back because a fund manager got hacked, his clients were screwed and it was majority forked/reset to return those stolen "funds" to him.
That is absolutely the opposite of what crypto currency ideology dictates and calls into question the entire legitimacy of the crypto concept itself.
Governments can create "paper" tokens and adjust interest rates and form a global stabilizing concensus that reflects value backed by their full faith and ability to protect and continue its worth blah blah blah... But If u are in the loop u will know for sure that it is without a doubt manipulated and it really is hard to hate on it outside of our day trade mentality. Sure, it benefits the strong but we "sleep well at night because it is for the greater good.
No one wants to buy a loaf of bread the day before it is 30% cheaper or two weeks later pay twice what it would have been. That is the bitcoin reality for the now. There are a set number of bitcoins. No more created, none taken away. If u lose your wallet, it's gone...
The problem that I see developing at a rapid pace is the fact that the "new group" is not all on boad with playing nice with the "old group". The "old group" knows they can crush "them", but "they" see it as an opportunity to participate in a black market like none other.
My only problem is my paranoia induced notion that both "camps" R1&theSame.
A bitcoin group will banish you if they find you refuse to sell when they say sell or dont buy when they say buy.
My thoughts on that are..

With that said...
There are no more Bitcoin that can be created and there is no method to recoup losses from theivery. If the bitcoin "community" were to fork the hash to invalidate the 70m stolen from nice, it would only invalidate itself as a concept, bring question to the reasoning for its very existence and ultimately lead to it's downfall.
