yeah, we watch the dicovery and science channels at my house instead of the junk that is often on TV....and just yesterday, I read that the string theory doesn't work, because instead, the fields are chunky and compartmentalized...now I am no einstein....but if that is true, there would still be a need for 'connectors' or towers, to shift the energy from one place to the next....

I don't think that the buried fiber will be relevant to TKO but a few years ago, hell it could have been week before last with my starved gene brain messengers, it was being widely ranted about of all the fiber being laid down underground, that will bring everything up to the last mile for the high speed internet wave.. Then the bankruptcies started hitting..

Maybe Chaos is right that a lot of it could be tooth talk but I understood that (there is) a lot of what they call "dark fiber" in the ground that isn't being used and if so, someone has to own the rights to it..

I'm aware of the earth's magnetic carrier field but haven't seen anything about it circling around.. It's interesting how in the movies you see futuristic things and some things eventually turn out in real life.. Alien space ships were powered by magnetic fields.. Some discoveries come to bear and others don't just based on the cost prohibitive factors..

One thing that you can bet your wife on, is that communication is now a far greater convenience than talking through a string with two cans connected on the ends!! That is of course, if you have electricity and batteries..
