I agree. RNC's official position has espoused a recap and release plan.

From what I've read from the news, there's been numerous tense exchanges between Corker and various GOP senators leading up to the tax vote. The media's coverage is that of a deficit hawk stalwart trying to put in future tax increase triggers.

Knowing who Corker is, I don't buy that line. I think the reason for his 'no'-vote has more to do with his personal interests than the fiscal health of the nation.
