Capital equipment sales doesnt work like that.

Hospitals need to know:

1) it is safe - FDA approval
2) they need to see others using it - very hard to sell something in existing market. As more sales happen more people will buy it, get it?
3) trained personnel - as more surgeons trained sales will pick up. As seen from FL hospital, they trained on one. Yhey liked it, they spent money to buy a new one. It serves also training ceter. Now 6 hospitals in Europe have Senhance training centers.

Have you ever wondered even softdrinks when new just given out for free on the streets?

That being said, again, you see the future of TRXC bleak, I see it is bright. Again as you said might be a flop or as I am being my money on it, it'll be successful

CE mark in 2011 is a great talking point but not the full story:

SOFAR (the company that initially developed Senhance) is a private company that is focused on manufacturing medicines and nutraceuticals in various formulations (check their website: http://www.sofarfarm.it/en/ ) not robotics.
Up until 2015 the small robotics division of SoFAR had placed only 2 units in Italian academic centers: 1 in Rome and 1 in Milan. The focus was on gathering clinical data and publishing studies on the efficacy and safety of the Telelap/Senhance platform.
Real efforts at marketing and commercialization didn't start until after the merger with TRXC in late 2015. If you figure in time for completing the merger, integrating the two companies and building the sales team it paints a completely different picture than saying it has been on the market since 2011.

The recent FDA approval is an important milestone for the company: it will give them access to US market and will likely boost their sales in other countries.
You may believe otherwise (that it won't sell) but it is not correct to keep stating that Transenterix has been marketing Senhance unsuccessfully since 2011.
