Maybe he was busy with pre-IPO investors or banks :-)

Yes, that seemed to be implied in the article - although I don't think Tony would be too intimidated to show up if what the article implied were true. I.e another non-issue.

Btw, couple of presentations in Thailand dealt with all female prawns culture. It seems to get traction.

Tony also mentioned all-male populations in his response to undercurrent.

Second, the megafarm could use newly-developed shrimp neo-males or super-females to produce all-male or all-female shrimp larvae stock, said Ostrowski. All females would grow more uniformly and would be much more docile than males, said Ostrowski, adding that populations of all males or all females would require less culling and less handling than mixed populations.

Keep in mind that in SIAF's model more than 50% of the yield in kg comes from males even though 90% of the natural offspring is female. So if they choose all-female populations then the yield may not be as high.

What distinguishes freshwater prawns from Mexican White is size. Especially for the males. So if you want to hedge against Mexican White then you should be growing the males, up to sizes 5/kg. They fetch a much higher price. They can do this in the ponds after grow-out indoors. But that's how I see it. So they may be more interested in all-male populations.
