Whether FINRA have to or don't have to doesn't change the fact that "15% of today's volume was short sales" isn't in the source file below.

The trading algorithm for the stock market is very complicated. Not many people understand exactly how it works. I think those 'anomalies' are 'bugs' in the trading algorithm. I provided the following possible explanations.

If you agree with them, then the disconnect between SP and short volume could be explained. FINRA doesn't discriminate, I suggest you to contact them if you really want to know the answer. =)

I'd love for you and/or the daily chronicler of that data to fully explain that disconnect.
