I don’t give such statements any credence. They are usually made in response to a shareholders questions when there are no good answers. As I said before, no one in any company really can guess what will happen in three years.
I have done projected financials for clients going out a year or two. They use them for budgeting purposes. Of course the projections and budgets are dynamic and have to be reviewed/ adjusted every 90 day’s. Looking forward has limited usage unless major capital investment is anticipated. Variables can be adjusted in the short term, fixed costs can’t.
