I posted earlier the ACA mandate is a rouse by Mitch imo . It’s a bargaining chip under the guise of “ revenue needed to offset cuts” , not so. What it really attenuates to is a way to give the mandate back before the final bill ( house / senate final version) so as to make people, especially those senators on the fence, feel like they “ got something “ for their “yes” vote they can boast about to their constituents . All the while deflecting attention by dems/ moderates from the Corp give away that is the tax bill at hand.
It’s actually a rather smart negotiating tactic , and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the executive branch suggested this move.
Bottom line , Mitch knows that ACA mandate repeal won’t fly , but at least it will look like they “ gave “ something come signing time , and have no doubt , there will be a Corp tax cut bill signed into law , because they are hell bent on doing so.
