They're talking about this on the radio now. They're saying that people with mental illness should not be taught how to kill. I agree. I think the military is so short on recruits, they'll take just about anybody who is breathing and able to go through training. Trans people still face violence here at the street level. Why would it be different in the military?
I also don't think the military is so open minded as its being posed as being re: transgenders. I still don't think the other recruits are so open to this as the military brass are and the only reason the top level are supporting trans troups is because they need the bodies. I think the shortage of recruits is the driving force behind these relaxing of standards.
