MMs sell shares they don't have in inventory all the time in the normal course of making a market. Then they buy shares to handle the other side of the trade.

Those "short sales" are counted in the data you are referencing, although they by no means contribute to "short interest" or the "short position". They also don't reflect an intent to drive down the price of the stock.

Those trades are purely "mechanical". For legit short interest you need to go to the official figures published twice a month.

Everyone needs to remember that the actual shorting for OTC stocks is done overseas and through third-party brokerages. Almost like gambling with a loan shark

When we get the real news here there’s going to be an explosion of people trying to cover their ass
