I believe the immense amount and density of ads that advfn has jammed in per page has reached critical mass and the ISP's and other providers automatic security safeguards are now kicking in as the amount of bandwidth the ads are using is being identified as DDOS attacks and are closing ports to protect themselves.
It was inevitable.
