So I've "selected" a car if I take it for a test drive, but I don't "purchase" a car until I commit to buy one. OK, I see.
So why would a company pay to put out two press releases about test drives?
I guess they have no other sales, so they tout whatever they can.
"Honey, I had a great day at the dealership today. I convinced three people on the lot to take test drives. I'm gonna call the newspaper and let them know."
