An even higher ratio would be very very bad for the shorts. There would be few shares available for any cover and PPS would open up doors where the funds that can't touch anything under $5 would be jumping all over this.

I agree with you; Monday will be an exciting day in TOPS and shorts will be scrambling for shs. There was lots of buying AH yesterday after the news hit.
