AKvetch... you're wrong! Me and most of the people
I served with were all volunteers. We all had a couple of years of college. I'll admit some people call Akron, Ohio a "hick" town but living 6 miles out of town on an 8 acre farm isn't exactly what I would call "country". The worce thing that could happen to the military is reinstate the draft. When there are many areas of the country where less than half high school students graduate, the military doesn't want them. And niether does business. The general population should be concerned about teaching our children because that is sacrificing more of them than any war is. IMO

which one was "political" and which one was necessary in your mind.

p.s. you didn't have to be a US citizen to serve in the 60's either.
