Thanks, Huggy. Very well stated. Although I don’t live in that area, I’ve loved the Astros for years. This year we had conferences in Houston and were lucky enough to see a game or two each time - including Verlander’s nine-inning masterpiece vs. the Yankees.
This team is exceedingly humble, and sweet. Once I took my nephew, who was 8 at the time, to stand at the rail to get an autograph. I didn’t see the players come onto the field, but they saw him with program & pen in hand. Springer, Altuve, and Marisnick approached us to sign the program and to say hi and welcome. Not a prima donna among them.
Since the hurricane they’ve donated both their time and money to victims of the devastating floods, physically helping to clean up homes and buildings where residents lost everything. They’re a very special group of guys. And wow, can they play baseball!
