Good link... I remember one of the scientists that was a vp of another company spending time talking to me about fecal microbiota transplantation. Interesting subject.

In my own case, I suspect whatever I was born with has been altered with time due to heavy antibiotic usage treating chronic ear infections when I was young. So, I switch up the various probiotics I use in hopes of replenishing some of them.

Apparently, what one has in their gut can also be limited to that of their mother.

The subject of gut microbiome is quite the rabbit hole once one starts diving in.

I'm not an MD, but I have done a bit of research on this topic. Not surprisingly it rapidly gets a lot more complicated when you begin to dig into it. There is a lot of ongoing research relating to reduced diversity of the gut microbiota in IBD patients and whether it's a cause or an effect of IBD.
