The Canadian company Abcann will not grow cannabis in Lusatia for the time being. That said a company spokesman on Thursday the rbb. The company did not receive a corresponding cultivation license. The Federal Institute for Drugs had been the annual maximum levels that Abcann wanted to grow in the Lausitz, too low.

Still plans for high-tech planting

In the next few months, however, more cultivation licenses will be tendered for which Abcann wants to re-apply. For the time being, the plans to build a high-tech plant for medical cannabis needs in Lusatia are being upheld. Covering 10,000 square meters, it will be used to build closed buildings and grow cannabis plants. The plant is expected to cost about 40 million euros and create 300 jobs. At what place Abcann plans to grow, the company claims to say no.

The German subsidiary Abcann Germany is based in Schönefeld. There are currently six people employed there.
