Even I must agree with powderbum about the military guys. First of all they were probably pushed and may not have resigned, but also if I were to hazard some theories they would be:
1) CM did not want anyone questioning him about whatever he did;
2) They might have sided with the one Director that CM really wanted out, i.e., Stan, and thus needed to be removed
3) Reducing the number of Directors meant that CM and his cabal could now exercise greater control over decisions
4) Reducing number of Directors meant not having to pay those directors even if only with worthless scrip or Calmare shares and options.
Just as your clock may be correct once or twice each day, even if stopped, Powderbum also can be correct on occasion
