Allies? Why do we need Egypt as an ally? We're only paying off their government so it will be marginally friendly to Israel. Were it not for Israel, why on Earth would we care what Egypt does?
As for our "ally" Israel... what better act of friendship could we extend than to help solve the problems it has with its neighbors? Israel has to spend a disproportionate amount of its wealth on defense. If it did not have to, it would never miss the money we've been giving it.
