It is SCARY stuff. My HAY day was in the 80's and 90's and I don't mean to sound gross, but I never thought oral sex would lead to a death sentence later in my life. Some other articles I have read are saying it's like a 7 FOLD increase in head and neck cancer for men. By 2020 men with head and neck cancer will be at MUCH higher rates due to HPV than the cervical cancers for women.

So in regards to IPIX, this is a big deal if B-OM becomes the standard in prevention. We are looking at HUGE increase about to come and already started to show - hence all the coverage lately on this disease.

I wish everyone the best here - health wise. And longs financial wise.

Here is the video I found about the other cancer therapy that was on Nightly News last night:

People can get tested for HPV infection by checking antibody titers in blood - I guess more in a research setting.

Also can check HPV DNA in tumor samples, as well as P16 expression status as a surrogate for HPV status in HNSCC.

Inovio has a cancer vaccine in trials in cervical and head and neck cancer to teach the body to go after HPV (and tumors). Nice idea to go after early or pre-cancerous lesions in the cervix with their DNA vaccine, so no surgery required. There are also certain "benign" HPV tumors which cause recurrent respiratory pappilomatosis / warty lesions usually on the vocal cords.

HPV is a nasty little virus. Everyone should be vaccinated. Some day I hope we'll have DNA screening for all viral infections, and treatments to clear latent viruses that flare up at unexpected times, thus preventing the havoc and suffering they cause.
