If they eventually want to uplist to NASDAQ there are requirement that wiping out shares isn't an option.
There's a a time frame shares needs to trade for. There's a min. amount of shares required, and a few other requirements that, that option isn't the one for uplisting in the future.
It's for a company's advantage to have a good established trading base first, otherwise they'd spend alot more for an IPO.
