I agree with your scenarios. I believe the data will be good. It's hard not to think that way when the first 2 (out of 2) patients had dramatic responses but I've been wrong so many times before that I wouldn't be totally surprised if the data is underwhelming. If the abstract was controlled by SPPI I would be wary of possible hype but this study and subsequent abstract is controlled by MD Anderson, a powerful cancer research entity that's not really beholden to anybody especially to a small company like Spectrum or Dr. Raj. MD Anderson's and chief scientist on the study, Dr Heymach's reputations are on the line. Yes, Dr. Raj used the news to strengthen SPPIs Balance Sheet. Yes, their is always the reasonable possibility, as Stugwins suggested, that SPPI didn't wait till after the Conference to do these financings because of the data being bad but I just don't see it. I wish I knew more about the convertible note hedging starting at $10.53 and after $14.03. Somehow I think that got the ball moving regarding these recent financings (i.e. that is they didn't have a choice). If the news is positive after news comes out next week I would be a lot more certain that is the case. If the news isn't good then Stugwins will have called it correctly (but I still don't see it).
