CPI Card Group Receives U.S. Patents for Encased Tungsten Fusion Metal Card

Patents protect Company’s new metal card, made from heaviest weighted metal available
LITTLETON, Colo. --(BUSINESS WIRE) CPI Card Group (Nasdaq: PMTS, TSX: PMTS) (“CPI” or the “Company”), a global leader in financial and EMV® chip card production and related services, today announced that it has been issued patents for its Encased Tungsten Fusion card – U.S. Patent No. 8,857,722, U.S. Patent No. 9,117,155 and U.S. Patent No. 9,430,724. The Company has also been issued patents for the card in Canada (No. 2,879,639) and the United Kingdom (No. GB2519046).

The patented Encased Tungsten Fusion card features Tungsten, the heaviest available metal, encased in PVC allowing financial institutions to offer cardholders a colored-edge combined with substantial weight and rigidity. Additionally, the card is nearly double the weight of conventional metal cards, while enjoying EMV capability and the same design customizability via CPI’s high-quality, high-definition print technology.
