Tamarindo is on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica and is best know for its surfing at Playa Tamarindo and Playa Grande. The town is small, and was very quiet in August and September as it was the off-season. I spent about 5 hours a day surfing; the rest spent reading and checking on my company.
