Radio Free Virgin says it has disengaged the record feature on its digital media player in an effort to
work with the music labels and their artists. Zach Zalon, general manager of Radio Free Virgin, said
that "the delicate climate of the digital music industry has prompted (Radio Free Virgin) to reassess
its long-term value." He added that the company will work with the labels to develop an alternative
service that will protect artists' rights.
Radio Free Virgin had added the feature in April, letting people record songs broadcast over the
company's 42 online channels. They could then play the music while online and offline.
