They probably also want their company names on the app. Just the fact that they are looking for changes tells me this is preliminary work for an eventual deal. Otherwise, who would spend the money to modify the hardware/software for a non-deal? My guess is that there is some sort of letter of intent and an NDA, allowing them to communicate about changes without 'spilling the beans'.
