Yes. On the FLIP side, this was an incredibly huge and powerful storm, and had it come ashore and maintained its intensity it would have been far worse.

I'm in the crisis and emergency management business and its always a tough call. When people are told to evacuate many won't because they've experienced storms before and while bad, they weren't THAT bad, but winds in excess of 160 mph are incredibly deadly, more SO is the storm surge and flooding (hello Hurricane Harvey, Katrina and Sandy).

My nephew runs a family owned trailer park on Fort Myers Beach and his wife made the decision (with him kicking and screaming) that they would evacuate with their 3 children (two on the lower end of the autism scale) along with their dog. They ended up in Atlanta and she and the kids are now here in VA with her sister. While my nephew is saying that FMB did not appear to get walloped as badly as they might have, the power is likely to be out for the next two weeks and a water boil is in effect. That might be too much on 3 little kids.

I'm just thankful it was far worse on all of you. My heart is broken for the people in the Caribbean whose homes and livelihoods have been 100% decimated. :(
