The Abeona treatment, while very promising, involves skin grafts. I would suggest several observations...

1.) The treatment is not 100% effective.
2.) It does not address pain and itching at the wound sites.
3.) It does not currently apply to all forms of EB.
4.) The process of growing and implanting skin grafts could prove to be very costly and painful. Particularly for patients with extensive wounds.

It may very well be the case that there is no single drug or treatment that can address all of the symptoms nor offer a complete cure for EB. It's very possible that some combination of treatments or drugs offers the best solution. InMed's drug shows promise of both alleviating the pain and itching as well as the underlying cause of the disease. Either treatment might work best in certain situations. We'll have to just wait and see.
