Now that's a cool job! I used to have sort of similar job- I was responsible for solving all of the problems of the OEMs who had computers in our Windows labs at MSFT. I used to get these ridiculous calls from Dell. Sometimes it took me several days to come up with whatever they needed. I mentioned it to my boss one day. After he came back from one of the road trips, he stuck his head in my office and said "I know why you;re getting all of those calls from Dell. Your phone# is on every white board in every dept. You're the one person who never says "no" and finds out what it takes to make it right".
He had a history with them. When I got there- there was no relationship at all except for arguments. he was incredibly pleased to just hand over the entire relationship to me.
