I actually loaded up another 2K shares today for 10K total. Don't have any Stein Marts in the region, but my wife is traveling and I had her visit one. She said it was clean, organized, and more upscale than Ross. Suited more for the middle class budget, though, and compared it to Nordstrom Rack. She forgot to answer me as to if it was empty of customers, moderate, or busy. Her photos showed a store that was well organized. Not sure if this was representative of all stores, but that was a good sign.
I'm just a bit worried having so many Stein Marts in the south in the path of two hurricanes won't do a double whammy on damages, prolonged dip in traffic and sales while the area rebuilds, and cost cutting from consumers spending money on rebuilding and housing. I expect with so many damaged homes and vehicles, both will be in short supply so the last thing they'll want to buy are clothes from Stein Mart.
