punkle... OT/OT/OT

The polls show that there are plenty of recall supporters among democrats also, so regardless of theoretical possibilities, the fact remains that you cannot pin this on just the Republicans. When you have the law, though, and you also have a governor that has been a disaster for the state, do not be shocked when the opposition party tries to invoke that law. As I remember, the Dems attempted the same thing with Regan with far less provocation, so it is a bit silly to be casting partisan stones.

I fear you are correct that recall initiatives may become the norm in California, at least for a while. That is part of what I was referring to when I said that partisan politics are more important to the politicians of both sides (both in California and in Washington) than attempting to fix the problems for the good of the people, the state, and the nation.

As for "a continuance of the Florida and Texas shenanigans", Florida was won fair and square by Bush, recounts and all -- it was Gore that was trying his best to steal the election there with the help of the very activist and liberal Florida Supreme Court, which I might add was struck down by the US Supreme Court in a rare 9-0 unanimous decision. Gore lost (even when liberal media sponsored recounts were conducted as an academic effort), so dems need to get over it. In Texas, the Republicans are doing what both parties have always done in almost every state in the union.
