Friendofthedevil,
I have been wondering if I had sadly forgotten meeting you at an annual meeting.
Appears not.
From my perspective, the CEO of IDBE was a hare-brained, short attention span peripatetic salesman whose mother might have had reason to worry if he could have gotten a buck for her.
Combine that with a superb staff of scientists and you got a mix many here yearn for but a huge loss of true value.
I queried investors in another biotech that IDBE sued for infringement and made a buck on a really exciting technology that seemed a real winner for detecting sneak terrorist attacks as well as certain diseases. All I got was a lonely but honest: "Duh."
That biotech too was swallowed whole with the technology disappearing from the above ground world. I can't discount the possibility, especially in that case, that development is not continuing behind high security walls but I would give very long odds in a bet against it.
Thank you very much for the memories.
Why do we never learn?
I fear when Mike West makes us all immortal with his discovery of telomerase we will have a world of fossils with all invention disappeared. :-(
Best, Terry
