well my comment wasn't much of an analysis
more my immediate disgust with the blatant lies by Codevilla who I never heard of. He doesn't know much about the Navy or people in danger, not even enough to tell plausible lies. The only connection the Forrestal fire had to do with the Fitzgerald was that the fire changed damage control aboard ship forever. Ships always had damage control specialists and on larger ships, especially aircraft carriers, dedicated people in their own department for damage control/fire fighting. After the Forrestal fire EVERONE aboard ship was a firefighter no matter what your main job or rank. This came about partly because most of the trained firefighters on the Forrestal were initially killed or wounded responding leaving untrained people to fight the fires. Damage control people aren't chosen by their size or strength or sex. Why this guy thinks McCain started the fire in the first place is ridiculous and the real cause documented and on video. But that's for some other time. There's other things Codevilla said happened on the Fitzgerald that just isn't true.
