No they don't.

Again, trying to say that sigma has no value, will be stolen, etc.

I would say this is true in manufactured goods: Cars, planes, and medical devices. Not a software that requires a plethora of knowledge and expertise to even grasp what's going on... maybe this is something to worry about once the industry matures and is more widely understood with guidelines and standards in place.
