Takeover by whom? Everything indicates that the potential bidders ran from the bargaining table last year and decided to just out-compete TWTR in streaming. I mean why not? TWTR doesn't own any IP to protect their interest in that market so anyone can do it.

DSNY has been in the buyout rumor mill and then they just announced that they're going on their own which makes sense because they don't want and can't control TWTR's toxic culture: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/08/disney-will-pull-its-movies-from-netflix-and-start-its-own-streaming-services.html

If FB sees any idea that's a potential threat that can make them money... they just copy it: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-facebook-television-idUSKBN1AP2RB?il=0

Google has been increasing streaming offerings all along: http://investorplace.com/2016/10/google-unplugged-alphabet-inc-streaming-tv-youtube-goog-stock-googl/#.WY9JQ-mQyUk

Direct competitors like SNAP and Weibo haven't shown any interest in TWTR as they try to be a better alternative for investors. They're also demonstrating that the business model in general has poor growth potential: http://investorplace.com/2017/08/weibo-corp-adr-wb-stock-strong-weibo-earnings/#.WY9KsOmQyUk

I used to think that these companies might see some value in TWTR's user data but then I realized they already have these users. They also have a lot more money to outbid TWTR for mainstream media like AMZN who stole the NFL from TWTR. Meanwhile, the streaming market is getting crowded and TWTR has to entice advertisers with much cheaper deals due to its much smaller user base which puts them in a no win situation where they have to pay too much and charge too little for streaming content. We saw this with their Q2 ad numbers.

Finally, smaller companies can't afford to inherit TWTR's massive employee compensation debt combined with the hit their stock will take for buying an unprofitable company. So it seems that TWTR will just die on the Vine.
