#158189 RE: WidowMaker #158188

widowmaker the old core boxes on the site were drilled by Dominion Gulf in the 1950s. They assayed about 70% of 68 holes they drilled and left some unassayed even though one can see in the old drill logs (in the drill logs the geologist 'logs' the rock from the drill core by identifying the minerals) there was 'pyrochlore' in the unassayed cores the ore that Niobium comes with but at that time Gulf Dominion were much more interested in Uranium, not Niobium.

When Scott surveyed the property back in 2008 (Scott visited the property, something every CEO should do, one would think)he discovered two caches of Dominion Gulf core boxes (one right on the SE zone in a blue container ((just 10 metres east of hole #81)) and another one by the lake in an old , broken cabin where the driller must have lived 60 years ago). This was wonderful all one had to do was assay these old cores and save the drilling costs!

Not so easy. Over the years hunters and snowmobilers had messed up the core so badly that one couldn't be sure what depth the rocks were at , rocks were strewn all over or what hole so the old core, unfortunately, was essentially worthless.

Scott declared then and there that when SRSR drilled its core, the core would be meticulously, carefully preserved in a building where this problem would not occur; not left to the mercy of the elements, hunters, trespassers.

That's how the core storage facility was used and still is.

And, its not just the 1/2 core (the other 1/2 was sawed, lengthwise, in usually 1.5 metre samples prepared by the logging geologist) off and sent for assaying that is stored in the core warehouse. When the assays are prepared they are chopped into homogenous powder and only a tablespoon of material is used for actual assay test.

The rest of the material in a given sample is returned to SRSR called 'reject and pulps'in clear plastic bags ; there are literally thousands of these rejects and pulps in the core warehouse facility held and preserved according to industry standards.

If you want to locate the core warehouse facility I can send you pictures; its not at the CPR office but over the river.

In 2014/2015 drilling program Scott had found out that Dominion Gulf had given MNDM 3 drill holes to keep way back when. Scott did some leg work and Nio Star got the drill holes to the property to be logged.

Again, the core from MNDM wasn't in good form (some of the depth tickets were off and missing, some gaps in the rock)and Alex Korboukh, the geologist, declared he can't log them scientifically. Dan pushed to do it anyways for Press Release news (in Dan's defense
he doesn't understand industry protocols) but Alex, rightly, refused.

Hopefully , this underlines why core, rejects and pulps are essential to archives and why they need to be carefully preserved, and secured.
