Actually, there is no verifiable proof that Lay owned shares in 2016. The latest IBRC 10-K shows his name listed, but this is an amended report which also shows current information to date (up to June 15th, 2017). Any report that was actually filed in 2016 does not show his name.

I wonder if Dreamlife can answer this for us?
