Indeed Sigma seem to have suffered from being a research company led by researchers with little understanding of commercialization and a desire to be independent and do their own thing.
they are however leaders in this space (in process quality monitoring and real time correcting) and the report that was posted here even stated that but then failed to research anything they have achieved which for non-EBM 3D printing is more than anyone else and they are printer agnostic.
ARCAM being the owners of EBM have taken a different approach using Xray not scanning and are probably internally vying to achieve the same capabilities as PrintRite-3D and Inspect and other modules of the Sigma suite.
