It's not hard to understand his weakness for flattery - a quick look at how he campaigned shows that...Like most personalities, it stems from how a person was raised...in Trump's case, he never got the approval he needed from his dad - and still craves. Trump thought $$$ would buy him the approval/admiration of the "old money" crowd in New York City but they want nothing to do with him, and he deeply resents that. He finds the "love" he deeply craves in folks who are easily impressed.
